Schools

Summerwood is located in the highly sought after Humble Independent School District. Elementary schools servicing the students of Summerwood include Summerwood Elementary and Lakeshore Elementary. Summerwood middle school students currently attend Atascocita Middle School, but in 2010 they will be attending Woodcreek Middle School in Summerwood.

Summerwood Elementary has a wonderful gifted and talented program and has a focus on technology with the school's own computer lab. Parent volunteerism adds to the richness of the education received by the students of Summerwood Elementary. Upon dismissal, the Lake Houston Family YMCA provides after school child care services to provide a safe environment for children of working families.

Lakeshore Elementary, one of the newer elementary schools in the area, provides instruction through the pod concept. Utilizing the gifts and abilities of staff, instruction is provided through collaboration and interaction between teachers and students of the same grade level. Lakeshore Elementary is located just north of the Summerwood community.

Woodcreek Middle School will have a unique partnership with the Lake Houston Family YMCA that will enhance the experience of the students. Woodcreek Middle School is expected to open in 2010. Woodcreek Middle School is located in the master planned community of Summerwood in close proximity to Beltway 8.

Summerwood high school students are currently split between Summer Creek High School and Atascocita High School. Summer Creek High School is phasing in a new class each year and will become a four-year campus by 2012. Students at Summer Creek High School will be divided into 4 separate communities with students taking most of their core curriculum in their assigned house during their 4 years in attendance. The smaller communities allows for more interaction between students and instructors leading to a well rounded positive educational growth of the student. Summer Creek High School offers several extracurricular activities outside the classroom including: baseball, basketball,  cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, wrestling and track and field.

Enjoy not one, but two community pools in Summerwood. At the Residents Club Central located on Summerwood Lakes Drive, in the heart of the community, you will find a junior Olympic-size pool with lap lanes.
